Dinosaur Cutie

When you think of dinosaurs, "cute" might not be the first word that comes to mind. That is, until you see the illustrations of artist Emily Willoughby. Her depiction of a baby megalosauroid dino perched on a rock by the Bavarian Sea in Germany was recently dubbed "the cutest dinosaur illustration ever" by io9. Willoughby, who lives in Belle Mead, N.J., said that before making her illustrations she studies everything she can on dinosaurs and their behaviors (and obviously their cute potential). Hello There Cutie!   xxxo

Cute Bday Cake

Today is the bday of my friend Tink and... ME! Having known each other since high school, we do have a similar aesthetic when it comes to a few things, biggest being cute items and Hello Kitty. Caracal Cuties

Doug had a link to this critter on his Facebook today and I was intrigued... it's a Caracal! They live in Africa, the Middle East, Pakistan and India primarily in dry steppes and semi deserts. Caracal prefer open country as long as there is sufficient cover (bushes and rocks) from which to ambush prey. I think the prey must just smile at how adorable these critters are and surrender upon confrontation. Makes sense, right? Hello There Cuties!   xxxo

Cute Olympics Knickers

It amazes me how many people I know are unhappy with the Olympics tv coverage this year... don't recall such strong sentiment in previous years. Perhaps something that can re-unite us all in a positive spirit are some Stella McCartney Olympics knickers! Stella is the designer of the UK uniforms this year, and also did this kit for her own line. With the embroidered 2012 rainbow, stars, gymnast, cab, flag and stars of the world, this gets an Olympic-size Hello There Cutie!!!   xxxo

Choupette the Cutie

Karl Lagerfeld (who we have written of previously) has for many years stated he does not want children. That said, he has fallen in love with a wee kitten named Choupette. I need not comment further as Karl demonstrates below his love for her (in his extravagant way:

“She has lunch and dinner with me on the table, with her own food… She sleeps under a pillow and she even knows how to use an iPad. She has two personal maids, for both night and day. She is beyond spoiled. When I am not there, the maids take down, in little books, everything she did.” Choupette also travels with Lagerfeld to St Tropez on his private jet “in the cockpit, with the pilot, she loves looking at the sky."

Spoiled but adorable, Choupette gets a big Hello There Cutie for showing that a cat can live the life too!!!   xxxo 

A Cutie Kawaii Start to August!

It's August which for me is the happiest month ever!!! The sun shines extra bright, the birds seem to sing a bit prettier and oh, it's my bday month! Wee hee... August is going to be full of all my fave things: friends, family (a wedding included), gluten free cupcakes from Kara's (subtle hint), presents (another subtle hint), lotsa cute experiences and most of all, celebrating another year. Cute Oreo Art

In college I was required to take 5 years of art history and learned much (including how to nap while listening) about different periods in art. My two faves turned out to be the DaDa and Fluxus movements, both of which took the everyday and reimagined objects/sounds/experiences. The artist Andrew Lewicki is carrying on this tradition, with pieces like this Oreo Cookie inspired manhole cover above. Wouldn't that be fab to see on your street? Hello There Cutie!!!   xxxo

SF Parrot Cuties

Way back in 2010, we wrote of a movie about the parrots of Telegraph Hill here in SF. These flying friends are rumored to of been escaped pets from the big earthquake and have continued to prosper thru the years. The photo above was posted this morning on Facebook by Lisa, who lives on Nob Hill (one hill over in SF) and is now able to hand feed these adorable flying friends... awww, talk about Hello There Cuties!!!   xxxo

It's a Mon Shu Cute Wednesday!

It's time for a bit of fashion with one of our Hello There Cutie faves: Karl Lagerfeld! Karl has teamed up this time with the fab Japanese make-up line Shu Uemera with a collection of everything from nail polishes to make-up boxes. Sjakie Is A Cutie

Sjakie is a baby sloth at the Burgers' Zoo in the Netherlands who has a teddy bear mommy. When just a wee baby, Sjakie's mother couldn't feed him and the zookeepers had to come up with a solution... problem was, none of theirs worked! Luckily a very smarty-pants 2-year-old girl came up with the answer: one of her teddy bears for S. to hold onto while the zookeepers fed him. Now Sjakie has two mommy's (lucky sloth!) and is happily feeding away. Hello There Cutie!!!   xxxo

Bugs + Sushi = Cute

Artist Lisa Wood’s amazing dioramas displaying real insects in re-creations of human life are changing my mind about all bugs being gross. These scenes use props both natural (leaves, pinecones) and artificial (tiny books, microscopes, and chess sets). On her Flickr you'll find wasps and butterflies holding tea parties, a tarantula delivering packages and, as seen above, some icky ones enjoying their sushi supper. Who woulda thought that creepy crawlers could on be Hello There Cutie???   xxxo

Cute Ikea Packaging

So I'm a pretty healthy eater overall but cute packaging is truly a downfall; who can resist it? I was just reading about the redesign of Ikea's packaging by Stockholm Design Lab and of course had to check it out. This might surprise you, but we're pretty tech saavy on Hello There Cutie. Ok, we are when it's cute! Announced today was Google’s latest version of its Android mobile operating system, Jelly Bean. Mayor Stubbs is a Cutie

Polls show that voters all over the country aren't happy with their their elected leaders, but the 900 residents of Talkeenta, Alaska love their mayor of over a decade! Mayor Stubbs is a 15-year-old  cat was elected to office as a write-in candidate shortly after his birth. Olympics Vuitton Cutie

Always game for an artsy collaboration, Louis Vuitton is marking the 2012 London Olympics and Paralympics with an exhibition in their London store by showing a selection of limited-edition prints celebrating the Games by Britain’s top art stars. The one above is by Anthea Hamilton, who I adore for her DaDa-ist sensibility, and caught my eye for both the idea of juggling the rings on feet with the pool background as a pattern. Kusama Vuitton Kutie

I love polka dots & Louis Vuitton so imagine my joy when I heard about this marriage: Yayoi Kusama (草間 彌生) is a Japanese artist best known for a thematic interest in psychedelic colors, repetition and pattern, especially polka dots! The glasses above are an example of what will be in LV stores later this month (and just in time for my birthday... hint wink nudge) as a full series collaboration (bags, accessories, clothing) between the designer and the fashion house. Yarn Bombed Cutie

Last year we did a post on some yarn bombing that I had seen in Berkeley... super fun but wait, the Italians have one-upped us! This was done by (as you can guess by the zigzag pattern) Missoni to a reproduciton of Michelangelo's David. So adorable is he in the pattern it made me wonder: wouldn't the real statue be cute (and a bit less chilly) in Missoni too? Hello There Cutie!!!   xxxo

Thor is a Cutie

All work, little play, makes me a very bad blogger...
Luckily, we have Thor to the rescue of Hello There Cutie! Thor is,a 1-year-old golden tabby tiger who is at the State Fair Meadowland in New Jersey. Now when I go to the State Fair, it's usually cows n piggies n farm animals, not tigers! I guess Jersey really is wild. Hello There Cutie!!!   xxxo

Oregon Cute!

A friend of mine was recently in Bend, Oregon for a wedding and saw this sign! I adore the J. Lo bootie on the squirrel and that the sign is written for them, not us humans. Which brings up the question: Did you know squirrels can read? (tee hee) Hello There Cutie!!!   xxxo

Sonoma Cutie

Sorry for the absence cuties... been in work and not adorable-land. But look who brought me back: Mugly! Driving back to SF from Sonoma yesterday, the traffic was awful and I wondered why. Well, in addition to a big Nascar thingie it was the World's Ugliest Dog contest at the Sonoma-Marin County Fair. Mugly, the winner, is a Chinese Crested dog from the UK and I gotta confess: he's so ugly he's kinda Hello There Cutie to me!   xxxo

Playground Cutie

I might be seeing my little friend Anouk tonite and whenever I do, my mind goes straight to playing. This playground is La Laguna Playground in San Gabriel so a bit far to drive, darnit! What makes this p-ground so cool is that instead of traditional equipment, it's populated by 14 concrete monster sculptures instead. Built in a sand-filled lagoon in 1965, it was designed by Mexican artist Benjamin Dominguez and saved from demolition in 2006. I read all about the La Laguna here, and it's a fascinating read if you have a chance. Hello There Cutie!   xxxo

Salty Cutie

I went walking down to Clement Street yesterday and stoppped by my fave Japanese supermarket: Super Tokio! While there, I saw this guy above and immediately thought this would be a great solution for the ordinary salt on my shelf. Well, it's not ordinary salt, as the owner told me when I went to purchase this Ajinomoto salt, it's a special MSG salt. (yeeech) So now I ponder: if I went back and washed out the container then I could use it for my boring salt? Hello There Cutie!   xxxo

I'm Baaack Cuties!

Sorry for the lack of posts this week Cuties... have been under deadline and all my creative-brain has been needed there. That said, last pm I was chatting with my eldest brother and the subject of ice cream came up. It is both of our "go to" treats, something I never knew. If only the ice cream in our freezers looked like these: big smiles on adorable faces, I don't think we would eat our fave treats... I'd for sure just be smiling at 'em! Hello There Cuties!!!   xxxo

Today is 06/06 which brought to mind the classic Multiplication Rock episode "I Got Six." You know how it goes, right cuties? "I got six... That’s all there is..." with a fabulous 70's-esque soul-funk beat. Golden Gate Park Cuties

Am back from Chicago Cuties... didja miss me? While I was gone, the Golden Gate Bridge had it's 75th(!) anniversary party and these coyotes pups were born in Golden Gate Park. Chicago Cutie-Time

I'm off to Chicago today for a family wedding (congrats Lou and Kristin!), check out a museum or two and watch my beloved Cubs win a game (eternal optimist). Emme has her uncle's checking in on her, and I have a feeling that upon my return I will find a very fat and happy bunny from eating far too many treats.

HRH Cuties

In honor of HRH Queen Elizabeth's upcoming Jubilee next month, here's a sassy image of "Liz" and two of her beloved corgi's. The Queen has had this particular breed of dog since she was young Princess and was given her very own first corgi, Susan, on her 18th birthday. Since then Her Majesty has had over 30 corgis, nearly all of of which have been descended from her beloved Susan... Outside my office window for the past week or so have been two birds that look similar to this guy above. Mr. and Mrs. Sparrow appear to be building a nest very close to my apt., and keep hopping up on the fence looking into the room where I am. Nicopanda Cutie

And who are these cuties you might be asking? It's Nicopanda, the mascot of NY designer Nicola Formichetti who will be hitting Hong Kong this week for a pop-up shop at Lane Crawford. Shoppers can ogle at Lady Gaga costumes on display, and purchase an array of products—dolls, notebooks, umbrellas, prints—built around the Nicopanda character. This wide-eyed bear is already so popular in China a huge crowd clutching Nicopanda's greeted Formichetti at the airport... watch out Hello Kitty & a big Hello There Cutie to this guy!!!   xxxo

Hello Kitty Airline Cutie!

EvaAir has come up with ultimate cutie for travellers: they've teamed up with Hello Kitty! On multiple routes there will be HK themed planes that take it to the max: passengers are greeted by attendants in Hello Kitty costumes, are served Hello Kitty-themed meals (including Hello Kitty-shaped pasta), can soothe their dry skin with Hello Kitty tissues, wash their hands with Hello Kitty soap and nap of Hello Kitty pillows. Sponge Cuties

The other evening I had some friends over for supper and to my delight, one offered to do dishes while I fixed dessert. As there is no dishwasher in my place (except me!) I was thrilled but also pondered this: if I had Hello There Cutie worthy sponges on hand, would more guests volunteer to do my dishes? Happy May Day!!! I found this on Etsy, which as we know is a treasure trove for things I didn't know I needed! From the Depression era, this poster was made by the US government and I am pondering what they are telling us: to feed a child? Get a vaccination? Or something else?
