Sponge Cuties

The other evening I had some friends over for supper and to my delight, one offered to do dishes while I fixed dessert. As there is no dishwasher in my place (except me!) I was thrilled but also pondered this: if I had Hello There Cutie worthy sponges on hand, would more guests volunteer to do my dishes? Hmmm, might need to go to the store to pick some up in the name of science!!!   xxxo

Bunny Without Ears Cutie

This earless bunny born near Japan's quake-ravaged Fukushima power plant is the subject of much controversy. He might be evidence of radioactive contamination (scary) or perhaps this is just a random birth defect (scientists are leaning strongly toward the latter) All I know is a pure non-scientific fact: this bunny without ears is adorable!!! Hello There Cutie. xxxo

Another Umbrella Cuties

Awhile ago I wrote of the movie Kamikaze Girls and the sweet Lolita movement in Japan. The most popular store for these fashions is Baby The Stars Shine Bright, and the other weekend I wandered into the SF branch of it. Trouble!!! Above is my new umbrella (I needed a short one as I only have a tall umbrella) and I really wish it would rain. The lace is lasercut with hearts and is the most Hello There Cutie possible... watch out for me on the streets of SF cuties. xxxo

Brrrrr Cutie

It's rather chilly here in SF, and I've been pondering the idea of a hot water bottle. Although I don't quite fathom how they work, I do understand this: there are some pretty adorable ones out there! This one from Japan makes me ponder getting a bottle (it's so darn Hello There Cutie!)... what do you think cuties? xxxo

Cutie Foodie

News Years resolutions often include eating better and exercising more... mine include having an element of Cutie everyday! I don't quite know if I have the patience to make my meals as adorable as this plate from Japan, but will def try a bit. And best of luck with your 2011 resolutions too Cuties!!! xxxo

Cutemaskah Elves

These cutie vintage Napco elves Christmas tree ornaments were made in Japan in the 1960s. Linking arms in celebration of Cutemaskah, these two are adorable with their innocent faces and silly proportioned bodies. Add in their vibrant outfits, we need to shout out a big "Hello There Cutie" to them! xxxo

Bentos are Cuties

I'm trying to be healthier right now (new years resolution) and part of that is, of course, eating better. Healthier = cuter in all aspects of life, and I'm finding inspiration with these bento box lunches. Whoever has the sick/cutie mind to make these, please contact me as I think we've found an answer to my what to eat dilemma! xxxo

Candy + Bears = Not Cutie

Things to remember, my dear Cutie readers: Don't give candy to bears, even when they hold out their paws nicely. This public service message is brought to you by Japan. xxxo

Better Late Then Not Cutie...

Bape hosted Bapesta!!Pro-Wrestling tournament in Tokyo this May, featuring some of Japans top pro wrestlers. The artist Yudetamago created a new wrestling costume and character (Apegon) just for this event. Above is the poster featuring this new character and two faves of mine: Baby Milo and the wrestling superhero Kinnikuman (I don't know the fourth). Who knew Cuties could be in wrestling too? xxxo

Cutie Fun

As you might recall, I am fascinated by the whole sweet and goth Lolita scenes in Japan. Altho I'm a bit "past peak" to dress it fully, I can still pretend online via this site. Drag n drop cute outfits (including a crown for this princess!) and voila, Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

Kimono Kitty

It's Tomoko's b-day today, and she loves cute (TK gave me the world's cutest umbrella). In celebration of this special day, we have another Target exclusive Hello Kitty, this time in a traditional kimono, opening up her arms to give our b-day girl a big "Hello There Cutie" b-day hug! xxxo

Green Cuties

How we love our oddly cute Japanese things here at Hello There Cutie... today's example is a cell-phone charm that has an actual plant growing in it. I don't quite understand if it's in water that you refill or a gel of some sort, but I do understand this: it's darn cute! Hello There Cutie mini-plants!!! xxxo

Anpanman is A Cutie

I was reading a NY Times article that Hello Kitty isn't as popular as she once was in Japan. Who has usurped her crown? Anpanman, a character that is based on a Japanese jam-filled pastry. Anpanman fights the evil Meanyman, and helps the people of the town in his animated series on Nippon tv. Whatta Cutie indeed! xxxo

Cutiest Umbrella Ever

My umbrella is here from Japan and bad news Cuties... it's beyond adorable. This photo doesn't do it justice (colors are much darker/muted and yes, those are flowers on the handle) but for once I wish it wasn't sunny outside. I can hardly wait for it to rain and be a total SF Cutie with it!!! xxxo

thx Tomoko-san!

Umbrella's Can Be Cutie!

My friend Tomoko is in Japan & I asked her to bring me back an umbrella... think it'll be as cute as this one? V. Sweet Lolita, the ruffled edges would sure make me feel femme (as if the pink wouldn't!). Add in that the illustrations are of a girl at her vanity with a pet kitten... Hello There Cutie umbrella!!! xxxo

Stuffed Cutie

What is this stuffed critter from Japan supposed to be? A bear? A dog? Well, whatever it is, I know we can all agree on one thing: it's darn cute. Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

Wedded Bliss Cuties

I must admit I am confused. I always thought Hello Kitty was a little girl kitten... I just found out her and Dear Daniel are getting married. Do they allow child brides in Japan? Or are they perhaps playing "dress up"? And is that a yarmulke on his head? Whatever the answers, Congrats Cuties!!! xxxo
