Sweet Valentine Cuties

Conversation hearts have a history that extends back to the 1860s, when Daniel Chase created a machine to print messages onto candy hearts. These initial messages were primarily wedding-related and much longer than the ones with which we are familiar.

By 1902, the succinct love messages that we recognize began appearing on conversation hearts made by the New England Confectionary Company (NECCO). Eight years ago today, a sweet little bunny was living on borrowed time at SF Animal Care and Control. On her cage was the name Spike but she was a sweet, French looking mini Rex that seemed more like an Amelie. Groundhog Day Cuteness

February 2 2010 is two things in my land: Groundhog Day and the premiere of Lost.

Groundhog Day tradition has it that if the gopher Punxsutawney Phil (from Penn.) emerges from his temporary burrow—a simulated tree stump at the rural site of Gobbler's Knob—today and sees his shadow, winter weather will continue for 6 more weeks across the US. But if Phil doesn't see his shadow, then spring is just around the corner... we're hoping for the latter.

Tonites Lost will be fun, drinking Dharma beer (made the cute labels myself!) with friends and hoping that our fave cutie characters will live. And declaring that certain ones aren't cute-worthy (Jack!).
