Kusama Vuitton Kutie

I love polka dots & Louis Vuitton so imagine my joy when I heard about this marriage: Yayoi Kusama (草間 彌生) is a Japanese artist best known for a thematic interest in psychedelic colors, repetition and pattern, especially polka dots! The glasses above are an example of what will be in LV stores later this month (and just in time for my birthday... hint wink nudge) as a full series collaboration (bags, accessories, clothing) between the designer and the fashion house. How v. Hello There Cutie.   xxxo

Gaultier Teddy Cutie

Last week I wrote of the fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier being the new face of Diet Coke. Well today is the opening an exhibit of his designs at the deYoung and guess who is going to be there? Perhaps while in the gift shop, I'll visit this little guy who is dressed in Gaultier's signature stripes, red kilt, and combination earring-nose chain. Personally, I think this official Maison Jean Paul Gaultier teddy bear is both runway and Hello There Cutie ready!!! xxxo

SpongeBob Murakami Cutie

A lot of fashion icons are pretty cartoonish, and here that idea is taken to the next level. Dutch illustrator Mike Frederiqo has portrayed Takashi Murakami (who we last wrote of here) as he might look in the underwater world of SpongeBob SquarePants. Yes, blissed out in his trademark flowers and fun! Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

I. Magnin Cutie

I just discovered the work of classic SF photographer Fred Lyon. Back in the 50's and 60's, he captured slices of SF (and Parisian) life as it was back then, with an eye for the beauty of the everyday. This scene caught my fashionista eye as it is in front of the old I. Magnin store (now Louis Vuitton) in Union Square, where a flower stand still stands today. This woman, so chic in a Grace Kelly way, seems to be wishing for a gardenia to grace her jacket... I hope she gets one! Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

Bill Cunningham is a Cutie

I recently watched a documentary about the iconic New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham and I must admit: I was taken by him! 80 plus years old riding his bike around NY to take street photos of fashion for the Times (as well as the swells of society), I found him to be fascinating. Anna Wintour from Vogue speaks of Bill spotting trends well before she and her editors, and with that red Schwinn and adorable French street sweepers jacket... well, he is totally Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

Bunny Jewery Cutie

I'm not a big jewelry type of gal, but this bracelet from Hillier sure caught my eye! Kate Hillier was an accessory and handbag designer for some pretty big houses (Marc Jacobs, Ferragamo & Stella McCartney to name a few) before launching her own line. And she loves bunnies! If you visit this website, in addition to a bunny jewelry collection, you'll find super fun rabbit movies too... both Amelie and I give her a big Hello There Cutie (and please send us this bracelet) greeting. xxxo

Doggle Cutie

When politics and fashion cross with cute as the outcome, we must discuss! This German Shepard wearing doggles (doggie goggles) is like the canine suspected of helping capture Osama bin Laden earlier this week. All sorts of rumours abound about the dogs role in this important moment but this all can agree on: a Navy SEAL dog wearing doggles is very Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

Poppy is a Cutie

The fabulous fashion designer Jason Wu has designed this doll named Poppy. According to her bio, Poppy is a 1960s teenager who has "traded hanging at the local malt shop and school dances for the glamorous life of a teenage fashion model in the Big Apple!" Her wardrobe feels very Jackie O.; her hair is styled with a Mary Tyler Moore flip and she is a total Cutie!!! xxxo

Chanel Cutie

What's a girl to do when she can't afford a Chanel quilted bag? Make her own!!! This NY smartie pants did just that, using a paper lunch bag and attaching a chain to the top. A great whimsical statement on the disposability of fashion... and darn cute!!! Whatcha think Karl would say? xxxo

Kamikaze Kuties

Kamikaze Girls was my Netflix last pm and boy, am I glad! The movie is about a girl (Momoko) that wears/lives the Japanese "Sweet Lolita" trend in fashion and her bff that is a "Yanki" (biker chick). The movie follows their adventures, with the highlights being Momoko's forays into the land of cute fashion and rococo-inspired modern fantasies. My frilly mind come to the big screen.... whatta cutie movie! xxxo

88 Tees

While in Hawaii last year, my friend and I stumbled across a cool little store up a narrow set of stairs in Honolulu, 88 Tees. Filled with vintage t's and fashionistas, we found a haven of cute in a touristy beach city. The main characters of 88 Tees are
Kuku, NaNa, YaYa, LuLu and KiKi, who are all adorably drawn with pot-bellies, big smiles and beachie outfits. Aloha cuties! xxxo

Fashionably Cute...

We adore retro on Hello here Cutie, and this new illustration has a fabu 50's feel to it! Between the whimsical bubble top, happy yellow and sweet butterflies, this is our fashionable idea of cute. Now where can I get that outfit? xxxo
