Cute Oreo Art

In college I was required to take 5 years of art history and learned much (including how to nap while listening) about different periods in art. My two faves turned out to be the DaDa and Fluxus movements, both of which took the everyday and reimagined objects/sounds/experiences. The artist Andrew Lewicki is carrying on this tradition, with pieces like this Oreo Cookie inspired manhole cover above. Wouldn't that be fab to see on your street? Hello There Cutie!!!   xxxo

Balsa Man Porta-Cuties

Yes Cuties, those are porta-potties you see today on this wee blog. At Balsa Man (see yesterdays posting for details), these were the 1/16th in size porta-potties that were made for the event. Made of cardboard and no bigger then my hand, this is a great example of the tiny spirit of Balsa and the cuteness that surrounded us everywhere. Hello There Cuties!!! xxxo

Balsa Man Cutie

This weekend I had the honor of going to Balsa Man. Balsa is an arts event based upon the roots of Burning Man with everything 1/16th in scale and underground in its implementation. So instead of 50,000+ people, Balsa Man had maybe 100 who paid 10 cents a piece for entry. This week on Hello There Cutie, we're going to be featuring some of the cute art (it was all sooo tiny!) from Balsa in the spirit of sharing art for free... please enjoy and Hello There Cuties!!! xxxo

Yarn Bombing is Cutie

About a year ago, I noticed in Berkeley public spaces and objects being covered in brightly knitted yarn sweater. This art movement, Yarn Bombing, is now being touted as the hip form of urban vandalism worldwide. Referred to also as Grandma Graffiti, it is the guerilla crocheting of buildings, bike racks, stairs, statues, trees, lampposts and...? Super Cutie, right? xxxo

Gold Bunny Cutie

Doug and I both admire Yoko Ono... If one looks at her as an artist, Yoko has truly influenced modern art with her ground breaking performances & installations. Add in that she has done tons to promote peace in the world, def a woman to admire. This gold bunny was autographed by Yoko for Autism Speaks, and is currently on eBay charity auctions looking for a new home. A bunny plus an artist plus a wonderful org always equals Hello There Cutie. xxxo

Banksy is a Cutie

Ok... I know very few people know what the art phenom Banksy looks like himself. That said, this fabulous print of his is def Cutie! Don't you love how the wee girl is standing, either letting her heart go or watching it escape her grasp? So simple. So lovely. So Hello There Cutie! xxxo

Leaf Carving Cuties

Leaf carving is a 60 step process of cutting and removal of a leaf's surface to produce a piece of art. The carving is performed by artists who carefully remove the surface without cutting or removing the veins. Alot of the examples on this website are pretty cheesy, but the one above seems to have Hello There Cutie potential... whatcha think Cuties? xxxo

Cute Red Panda

Not sure who the artist is behind this cutie, but one look into those adorable eyes and even the meanest person can't help but melt. As a test, readers should show this image to their most evil nemesis and sit back and watch the results!
