Trader Vic's Cuties

As you might have guessed, my aesthetic is rather eclectic: here's another example! I've never smoked cigarettes (and never will, nor should you my dearest Cuties)... yet I have a collection of Trader Vic's ashtrays from the 1950s. Vic's was a popular Polynesian themed restaurant (history can be found here) that allowed smoking in both the lounge (home of the Mai Tai) & dining rooms, utilizing these adorable ashtrays. I know of six designs, all very un-pc and all very Hello There Cutie!!! (I own the one above) xxxo

Toast Cuties

This campy little toaster cover is hand embroidered in vintage style by Needle-n-Me. As I use a 1950s toaster (it was my parents), this totally appeals to my toast aesthetic. And who wouldn't want to start their day buttering these smiling cuties??? xxxo

Snowy Cuties

If I were a blonde, Doug still back East and time-warped to the 50s, this would be us on V-day! Sledding along with one of our pets (I think it'd be my bunny Amelie), big smiles and wearing cute outfits. And, of course, with a "pun" thought bubble above us! Hello There Cuties!!! xxxo

This children's elementary school educational chart is from the 1950s. It has a simple and wonderfully illustrated explanation of a basic science principle. teehee A sweet girl and a double entendre... Hello There Cutie that's makin me smile today! xxxo

Early Valentine Cutie

This little guy knows what's almost a month away... Valentine's Day. He's ready with an envelope full of loving greetings, hopefully for us! A Hummel figurine from the fifties, so tacky he's adorable. Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

Another Squirrel Cutie

This squirrel cutie was sent to us by a reader who collects these adorable creatures in all forms. Mr. Squirrel looks to be from the 50's and a glazed ceramic, perfect for any Fall display inside or out. I wonder what's in his bowl... acorns... walnuts... or just an extra dose of cute? xxxo

Romper Room was cute!

Romper Room was a syndicated and locally-produced TV show which ran from 1953 to 1994 in the US as well in some other territories.

The program was targeted at children five years of age and younger.

The show was popular because it taught simple lessons through games and songs.A favorite recurring character was Mr. Do-Bee, an cute bumblebee who was employed to teach the children how to be well-behaved.Mr. Do-Bee always started his lessons with the phrase "Do Bee," for example, "Do Bee polite!".Mr. Do-Bee could be seen many Romper Room products.Mr. Do-Bee was know in the US, as well as internationally.Other Romper Room and Do-Bee merchandise includes balloons, records and various cute toys.

Wise as Athena and Cute as a Cupcake!

During the late 1950s and early 1960s, DC's top superheroine Wonder Woman discovered a means by which to travel backwards through her own time via a magic picture book - becoming the cutest amazon ever - Wonder Tot!
Wonder Tot's silly adventures included run-ins with flying dinosaurs, giant dragons, wacky aliens and her magical friend Mister Genie. Occasionally, she would also journey through time to team up with her future self as teen-aged Wonder Girl and adult Wonder Woman.

Just Add Water–And Cute!

Sea-Monkeys are a trademarked brand given to a variant of brine shrimp or Artemia salina. These cute critters were first marketed in 1957 by Harold von Braunhut (who also invented X-Ray specs) as "Instant Life". The name was changed to the much cuter sounding to "Sea-Monkeys" in 1962. The name "Sea-Monkeys" was chosen because of their playfulness, like monkeys. Exaggerated advertisements and packaging depicted smiling creatures, underneath these pictures was a disclaimer that stated, "Caricatures shown not intended to depict Artemia."
