Summertime Cuties

With 4th of July just around the corner, it's time to figure out what to wear to a bbq. Although this pattern from the late 1960s isn't my size, I think these outfits would def make a splash at any bbq or pool party. What do you think Cuties? xxxo

Cutemaskah Elves

These cutie vintage Napco elves Christmas tree ornaments were made in Japan in the 1960s. Linking arms in celebration of Cutemaskah, these two are adorable with their innocent faces and silly proportioned bodies. Add in their vibrant outfits, we need to shout out a big "Hello There Cutie" to them! xxxo

Hello-ween Cutie Friends

A vintage Halloween paper wall decoration from the 60's, this wee black kitten doesn't look like she could be bad luck for anyone. And her jack o' lantern friend has such a welcoming smile, doesn't he seem to be saying "Hello There Cutie!" to all the trick or treaters? xxxo

Poppy is a Cutie

The fabulous fashion designer Jason Wu has designed this doll named Poppy. According to her bio, Poppy is a 1960s teenager who has "traded hanging at the local malt shop and school dances for the glamorous life of a teenage fashion model in the Big Apple!" Her wardrobe feels very Jackie O.; her hair is styled with a Mary Tyler Moore flip and she is a total Cutie!!! xxxo

Cute at Any Price!

Magilla Gorilla was the tar of THE MAGILLA GORILLA SHOW which ran from 1963 to 1966 and has been rerun ever since. Magilla spent his days in the display window of Mr. Peebles' Pet Show, eating bananas and being a clown for passersby. Desperate Mr. Peebles continually marked down Magilla's price to make the gorilla more attractive to potential customers. Each episode, Magilla would go home with a new owner, but somehow always ended up returning to the store.

One customer who was honestly interested in owning the big ape was a little girl named Ogee, who often asked "How much is that gorilla in the window?" .

1960s Cutie

This photo from the sixties was sent in by a cutie reader. We usually don't post baby/kids shots, but how could we resist this one? Adore the mid-century furniture and our readers corduroy coveralls in bright red, with a big diaper bootie. Add in the sweet smile and Barbizon pose, it's a Hello There Cutie moment!!! xxxo

This vintage Japanese ornament from the 1960's is beyond a sweetie. Altho I am a bit jealous of her long eyelashes and fabulous frock, I see that her arms are wide to give us a big cutie hug!!! Hello There Cutie... xxxo

Owl Always Be Cute

This is adorable trio of owls look so cute I give a hoot! Made of artificial wood with green and yellow felt eyes, these sweeties rest on a real wood branch and were probably conceived in the 1960s. Makes me want to redecorate just to accommodate their cuteness... Hello There 3x Cuties! xxxo

Cardboard Cuties

"Who are these cuties?" you might be wondering... well, these are home decorations from the 60s for the home. I adore the adorable pumpkins and smiling cat, and even the witch looks sweet; oddly, it's the owl that scares this trick or treater! Well, they still get a big "Hello there cutie" for being so swell. xxxo

Cutie Treats

On Halloween, the real surprises were in the bags that neighbors would fill with assorted stuff... would it be generic candy or homemade treats or something super yummy? Even a toy? Well this little cutie in disguise would make me want to see what's in his bag o' treats. Hello there cutie little boy!!! xxxo

Groovy Cuties

If Doug and I were groovy cutie friends in the sixties, I think this would of been us! With their Keane-esque big eyes, guitars and hip clothes, these two cuties are just too of that era. I wonder who the painter "Lee" is tho... and why is the girl is a bit country and boy bit rock n roll? xxxo

Fuzzy Cuties

In the 1960s, a popular way to decorate your baby's crib was with image transfers. The themes differed from storybook to cute, as did the the transfers themselves, from smooth to fuzzy. These cuties were fuzzy friends that would have made any baby happy, with their chubby bodies and sweet smiles. Heck, they just made me smile!!! Hello there cuties! xxxo

Pink Is For Cute

"Pink Is For Girls"... adore it! This cutie in her pink lacquer barrel tub is happily chatting on her pink phone while covered in bubbles from her Lustre-Creme pink shampoo. A question: Why is her hair dry and in a perf updo with ribbons? I digress... adore the groovy giant pink bubbles and the Mad Men-esque copy (click to expand!) of "he'll notice we have a delightful pink fragrance." Hello there cutie retro ad! xxxo

Flatsy = Cutie

Flatsy's were flat dolls made by Ideal from the late 60s thru early 70s. They had floor length hair and wore "mod" clothes. Each Flatsy had a "theme" and came with an accessory, all removable from their framed environment hung on your wall. And did I forget to mention they were cute? xxxo

Cute But Weird...

A b-day book I was given features the art of Alba Ballard, a 1960s Long Island housewife who thought it was cute to dress up her pet parrots in costumes and photograph them. The images are cute yet disturbing... and I can't stop looking at this book; Amelie, my pet bunny, isn't too happy about it. I wonder why??? xxxo

Wise as Athena and Cute as a Cupcake!

During the late 1950s and early 1960s, DC's top superheroine Wonder Woman discovered a means by which to travel backwards through her own time via a magic picture book - becoming the cutest amazon ever - Wonder Tot!
Wonder Tot's silly adventures included run-ins with flying dinosaurs, giant dragons, wacky aliens and her magical friend Mister Genie. Occasionally, she would also journey through time to team up with her future self as teen-aged Wonder Girl and adult Wonder Woman.

Cute as a Ponytail

Ponytail was a cute King Features Syndicate daily comic panel (like Dennis the Menace or Family Circus) created by Lee Holley in 1960. Along with with her boyfriend Donald, Ponytail became quite popular, adding a Sunday color version in 1963 and appeared over 300 newspapers. Dell Comics published a series of Ponytail comic books, consisting of new stories. It ran 12 issues, with cover dates from September 1962 through December, 1965. Dell Books later published a series of cute paperbacks. Charlton Comics also put out another 8 issues of the comic book starting in 1969. In newspapers, Ponytail was discontinued in 1989, and Holley retired.
