Encino Cutie

Am going to be down in the Valley this weekend visiting both my family and fellow cutie Doug. In looking for the perfect image, I pondered before arriving on this one: me 3 days old, held by my Grandma Helen while my two brothers check me out. Rumor has it they were disappointed I wasn't a boy but hey, I don't throw like a girl!!! xxxo

Niece and Nephew Cuties

One of my brothers kids are pugs named Napoleon and Josephine. These two cuties are now old and grey, with N. being 14 years old and J. 13... I always found greying dogs not as attractive as original colors (Miss Clairol anyone?) until these two began showing their age. Now every time I see them they get a big Hello There Cutie greeting for showing me that grey is beautiful. And darn cute. xxxo

Tornado Cuties

These Cuties are just two of hundreds of pets hoping to be reunited with their owners at an animal shelter in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The animals were separated from their families during last week's devastating tornado, and we sure hope they are back in their families arms again soon. Hello There Tornado Cuties!!! xxxo

Tiger and Piglet Cuties

Reader Andy of SF sent us this fabulous image and the story behind it:

In a zoo in California , a mother tiger gave birth to a set of cubs that died shortly after birth. Post delivery, the tigress fell into a depression. Her vets decided to see if a set of weanling piglet orphans, wrapped in tiger outfits, might help her cope. And now they are a family. Hello There Cuties!!! xxxo

Miffy's Family of Cute

Miffy (who we have previously written about!) and her family are extremely popular in Europe. This crocheted grouping is just one medium (they are in books, fabric, video... you name it!) for you to embrace them. I love the old fashioned treatment of Miffy and her family in this form, and wish there to be a crochet revival... the texture is so groovy. And so Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

Cutemaskah Snow Family

If my family had sent Cutemaskah cards, this would of been perfect for the five of us (replacing the word Christmas with Cutemaskah, of course). I love how the five snowpeople are so happy in their ensembles, and the fabulous retro (mod for the time) typography. Happy Cutemaskah Cuties!!! xxxo

This lovely card shows a bit more elegant setting then my family will gather 'round, but the glasses of Concord grape wine and traditional plate are there! A Happy (and Cute) Passover to all!!! xxxo

Sunday Morning Cuties

One of my fondest childhood memories was waking up to the Sunday Funnies in our local newspaper. My favorites included Peanuts, Dennis the Menace, Nancy, Hi & Lois and Bil Keane's The Family Circus. According to sources, the strip began in February 1960 on the 29th (Leap Year Day!) under the title The Family Circle, but was changed to avoid confusion with the women's magazine of the same name. The single-panel daily strip appears in more than 1500 newspapers today and still tells the simple, sweet and cute stories of the Keane Family - father Bill, mother Thelma, and their tykes: Billy, Dolly, Jeffy and PJ. Grandparents sometimes appear (one is a ghost) as well pets Barfy, Sam and Kittycat.
The Sunday version of the strip breaks out of the single rounded panel and often tells a complete story through clever visuals. For more info visit The Family Circus website.
