Runny Cutie

Saturday I was introduced to a book I wish I had heard of as a child... "Runny Babbit: A Billy Sook" by Shel Silverstein. Runny is largely composed of spoonerisms in rhyming verse and makes you smile upon first read. Other than speaking only in spoonerisms, Runny is a normal rabbit-child with many friends and two loving parents, his "dummy and mad" (ie mummy and dad). Add in that the illustrations are wonderful too, Runny gets a big Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

Chicken Soup = Cutie

Getting better but still a bit flu-ish... time to quote Maurice Sendak's children's classic:

Each month is gay,
each season nice,
when eating
chicken soup
with rice.
(even when sick)

Cutie Longstocking

There have been many adaptations of Astrid Lindgren's Pippi Longstocking books since Pippi first appeared in 1948. The very first film came out in 1949 - followed by a Swedish TV series in 1969. This series was edited into 4 feature films for international markets beginning with PIPPI LONGSTOCKING, as pictured above. Pippi is unconventional 9 year old who has superhuman strength and is sassy towards the adults she encounters, a cutie if there ever was one!

A Different Snow White Cutie

Dick Bruna, creator of Miffy, published his version of the Brothers Grimm classic in 1966. This cute adaptation is a rare out-of-print gem, but can be found online at several vintage book retailers.

Little Sally celebrates an early Easter...(or is it a late Halloween?) in this lovely childrens' book illustration that I saw at a friend's holiday party.

Patrick's A Cutie

This charming children's book from 1946 is sure to put a smile on your face with the darling cover illustration of a sweet bunny named Patrick. I'd love this fuzzy cutie to hop on over to my house, wouldn't you??? xxxo
