Swanicorn Cutie

I just discovered a local artist and wanted to share his work! Daniel Fleres chronicles the elusive Swanicorn as it emerges from hiding throughout the world to seek protection from human beings while being on the verge of extinction. This species is part swan, part unicorn, and fully Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

Keepon Cutie

In reading BusinessWeek recently (hey, I'm diverse!) I was fascinated to read about this 10" cutie called My Keepon. Originally designed to help children with autism, this little robot is readying for his debut at Toys R Us this holiday season. My Keepon will listen to music then run the tempo through an algorithm that introduces randomization. Country song? Watch My Keepon sashay to the beat. Play the same song again, and My Keepon will do a different dance, while still matching the rhythm and tempo. Yes, he's our new disco king and adorable so Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

Here's Keepon rockin out to some Spoon below... enjoy!

L' Shana Tova Cuties!

This little gal (and her pup) are from an Israeli 1960's greeting card for Jewish New Year (ie Rosh Hashanah), which begins tonite. The rams horn (shofar) is blown to welcome in the holiday, and apples dipped in honey are eaten to celebrate a sweet new year. I don't think riding a tricycle is traditional for this holiday but hey, L' Shana Tova (aka Happy New Year) and Hello There Cuties!!! xxxo

Swampy the Cutie

The cutie featured today is Swampy the alligator, who stars in an app for kids from Disney. What makes Swampy so noteworthy (besides his cuteness of course!) is that Disney is hoping that he will make it to the big screen (usually the movie is spun off of an app or game, not the other way around). I haven't been able to find out what adventures Swampy has but it really doesn't matter: with his rubber ducky, sweet smile and back scrubber we gotta shout out Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

Bill Cunningham is a Cutie

I recently watched a documentary about the iconic New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham and I must admit: I was taken by him! 80 plus years old riding his bike around NY to take street photos of fashion for the Times (as well as the swells of society), I found him to be fascinating. Anna Wintour from Vogue speaks of Bill spotting trends well before she and her editors, and with that red Schwinn and adorable French street sweepers jacket... well, he is totally Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

Kissin Cuties

Reader Joseph from SF strikes again with an image that is guaranteed to make you go "awww." These two unlikely kissin cuties who were found in nature don't know they are meant to be enemies. So they are doing the opposite and what feel right: being friends. Isn't this a nice lesson to take away for the weekend? Hello There Cuties!!! xxxo

thx for the great pic Joseph!

Swatch Cutie

Tonight is Project Runway! My friends watch primarily for the clothes, but I get most excited when Swatch, the Boston Terrier mascot of Mood Fabrics in NYC, appears. This little guy steals the camera with his nonchalant attitude and I just found this out: Mood dresses him up and posts pictures of him on their blog. Talk about Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

A Sad Little Ginger Cutie

I remember a song called "It Ain't Easy Being Green" sung by Kermit the Frog... substitute green with ginger, and we've got this sad little seal pup. Its reddish-brown fur and pale blue eyes have made this cutie an outcast from both his family and rest of the colony (that's them partying like seal rockstars in the background). Breaks my heart, so sending out a big Hello There Cutie and wishes that he is accepted for being uniquely adorable soon. xxxo

Big Yellow Cutie

This cutie is by the Netherlands artist Florentijn Hofman and can be found in Sweden. The Big Yellow Rabbit (real name!) is a temporary 13 meter high sculpture in the middle of the town of Örebro and can be seen this summer during the OpenArt biennale I feel a European field trip ahead, how about you??? Hello There Cutie! xxxo

Fluffy Snow Cutie

The other day I was driving thru an area of town (the Sunset) I usually don't. It's very cold & foggy there but on Noriega Street was this ray of kawaii sunshine! Fluffy Snow is a shop that sells "snow ice" which is described as "a ride on a cotton candy rainbow" per their Facebook. Wow, a fabulously adorable logo and a great food descrip equals Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

Nibbles is Soooo Cutie!

Our last Tom and Jerry tribute is Nibbles, a little grey, diaper-wearing orphan mouse that Jerry takes care of. Nibbles (aka Tuffy) is always hungry, likes milk (he is a baby after all!) and was featured in the 1949 Academy Award-winning short The Little Orphan, in addition to his T & J featurettes. With that sweet face and big belly, you know he gets a big Hello There Cutie! xxxo

thx for the great idea Donie!

Uncle Pecos is a Cutie

Next up in our Tom and Jerry trio is Uncle Pecos! This mustached mouse likes to play guitar for his nephew Jerry (and everyone else who is around!). When his strings break, Uncle Pecos plucks whiskers offa Tom (catgut strings?). Everyone (including a soon to be whiskerless Tom) adores Uncle Peco and his songs are so silly, we give him a big Hello There Cutie! xxxo

Spike and Tyke Cuties

We've been informed by our reader Donie of Oakland that Hello There Cutie has missing some big cuteness via Tom and Jerry cartoons. So, for the next three days, we're featuring some of their cuties...

First and foremost are Spike and Tyke! Spike is a stern (and kinda dumb) British bulldog who doesn't care for cats, but is a big softie when it comes to mice, and later, his son Tyke. The son and his daddy are seen above and I'm already feeling a big Hello There Cutie when looking at their interaction! xxxo

Harry is a Cutie

Australian artist Rotae Lupin has reimagined the characters of Harry Potter as Emo-esque hipsters in a fabulous series of drawings. My fave is Harry (seen above) with his quote of "dying is so mainstream" and skinny jeans tucked into his trainers. As all who know me are aware, I have a soft spot for this series of books, so a big Hello There Cutie to this new (and groovier) Mr. P. and friends. xxxo

Napping Cuties

I'm not sure about you, but Mondays I'm always sleepy. This image was sent to us by reader Joseph from SF, who thought these snoozy baby bunnies were adorable. I agree, how about you? Hello There Cuties and zzzzzzzzz... xxxo

thx for the pic Joseph!!!

Balsa Man is a Cutie

There's a reason for the season and this Labor Day weekend it was Balsa Man! Here is the man himself, all two feet tall, with mini balsa lights pointed toward him and proudly waiting to be sacrificed. Balsa Man stands on a base of tiny Balsa Man effigies and is waiting to raise his arms to the sky before being lit on fire... Sad but a beautiful moment losing this new friend but Hello There Cutie, see you again next year!!! xxxo

Balsa Math Cutie

Shapes like this count more as science then cute except (note the italics) when at Balsa Man! This little piece was about 6" high and so adorable I wanted to wear it as a hat. Unfortunately, everything is burned at the end of Balsa Man so it just lives on in my memory... and on Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

Balsa Man Porta-Cuties

Yes Cuties, those are porta-potties you see today on this wee blog. At Balsa Man (see yesterdays posting for details), these were the 1/16th in size porta-potties that were made for the event. Made of cardboard and no bigger then my hand, this is a great example of the tiny spirit of Balsa and the cuteness that surrounded us everywhere. Hello There Cuties!!! xxxo

Balsa Man Cutie

This weekend I had the honor of going to Balsa Man. Balsa is an arts event based upon the roots of Burning Man with everything 1/16th in scale and underground in its implementation. So instead of 50,000+ people, Balsa Man had maybe 100 who paid 10 cents a piece for entry. This week on Hello There Cutie, we're going to be featuring some of the cute art (it was all sooo tiny!) from Balsa in the spirit of sharing art for free... please enjoy and Hello There Cuties!!! xxxo

Labor Day Cutie

Happy Labor Day Cuties! Wear those white shoes one last time as they go into storage til Easter (yes, we follow etiquette on Hello There Cutie). This great pic by Louis R. Astre is dated 1960, and was shot in a fabulous park in Paris. C'est magnifique and Bonjour Là Mignon!!! xxxo

Back to School Cutie

We don't often feature furniture on Hello There Cutie but when we do, it's worthy! This fabulous "vintage cafeteria playtable" from Restoration Hardware Kids is reminiscent of seats in elementary school before you were big enough to have separate tables and chairs. I might have to go to the store to try this out cuties... how about you? Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

Kia Kutie

Previewed on the MTV awards Sunday, this ad got me wanting to trade in my VW for a Kia. That is, if it came with adorable dancing hip-hop hamsters and made everyone dance. Wow, so super cutie... xxxo
