I was recently re-reading Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass and one of the characters was a dormouse. Well imagine my surprise when I came across this video of a real life one!!! Dutch illustrator Mike Frederiqo has portrayed Takashi Murakami (who we last wrote of here) as he might look in the underwater world of SpongeBob SquarePants. Ozzie Cuties

January 26th is Australia Day down under and you might be wondering what that is! Well, it commemorates British sovereignty over the country way back in the 1700's. As one would expect, people find this holiday a bit controversial and is called Invasion Day by many. I'm not politically minded in regard to Australia Day but am very cute-ly minded instead: looking at this years celebratory (and rather adorable) logo, these critters def get a big Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

Olive Cutie

How I wish I hadn't recently bought olive oil... this can is from the new TGTL collection of premium olive oils and would be perf in my kitchen. The oils are from the Alentejo Region in the south of Portugal, and there are 3 different oil cans beautifully illustrated in different styles. The cutie above is my fave as the style of illustration is so whimsical, with the colors bright and happy. Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

A Cutie Dragon Year

Yesterday began the Chinese lunar year of the Dragon... traditionally not a lucky time if you were born a Dragon (as Doug & I were). I've been feng shui-ing my apartment and doing all to welcome the year with respect, so hopefully it will be one of happiness, prosperity and lotsa cute! Lucy is a Cutie

Lucy, at 5.7-inch tall and two-and-a-half pounds, has been crowned the world's smallest working dog... smashing the previous record by three-and-a-half pounds! This diminutive Yorkshire terrier works as a therapy dog with the elderly and disabled in New Jersey, visiting hospitals and nursing homes to bring joy to those who need cheering up. "Paedophyryne amauensis" is a new species of a frog recently discovered by Louisiana State University herpetologist (the branch of zoology concerned with the study of amphibians) Christopher Austin. This little guy was found near the Amau River in Papua, New Guinea and has been named the world's smallest vertebrate. We name him the world's smallest cutie too... Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

A Very Cutie New Product

Have you heard of the Obol? It's a bowl (found here) that keeps your cereal separate from the milk. The Artist's Cutie

I didn't watch the Golden Globes Sunday pm but in reading about the show (and the dresses of course!), there is one moment I wish I had seen: when the Artist won best picture! A wonderful movie, one of the stars of it is this pup (real name Uggie) who demonstrates wonderful emotion and talent throughout the film. The photo above is Uggie on the red carpet and below we have him stealing the show when the cast is accepting their award... talk about Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

Cutie Bread Packaging

This super cute packaging was done for Fazer Vilpuri bread in Finland. Hasan & Partners is the design agency responsible for this, and I'm jealous this bread can't be found in the US! Wouldn't it be great to go to the supermarket and find this cutie on the shelf??? I think I'd have to buy a couple just to keep each other company... Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

It's Friday the 13th Cuties!

When I think of Friday the 13th, my first thought isn't that it's bad luck but of Jason, the star of the ubiquitous movies. But Jason isn't very Hello There Cutie, is he? Well he is when imagined as a bobblehead!!! I found this online here and wow, even though Jason is still a bit gruesome and scary, this version is kinda cutie, isn't it? xxxo

Rainy Cutie

Here in SF we're having a very dry winter which I adore but am told isn't good for the water supply. Well, rumour is that rain is on the way next week and I feel like this little guy in illustrator Matte Stephens picture: a bit gloomed out by the prospect. This great image (print can be purchased here) makes me feel kinda happy about the upcoming rain. And Hello There Cutie to this gloomy guy and the upcoming moisture. xxxo

Mid-Week Mid-Century Cutie

I am on the hunt for a new dresser and get email updates from some local guys who are mid-century collectors on their newest finds. Imagine my surprise when I saw this guy on their
website! This Danish modern teak toy monkey was designed by Kay Bojesen for Rosendahl and is in amazing condition. Just looking at his sweet face and silly limbs brings me a smile, and am pondering buying for my eldest sibling who has always wanted a monkey. Whatcha think Cuties? xxxo

Pseudo Panda Cuties

This one goes under the heading of "cute but strange."

These little girls in China are taking part in the newest craze taking over the country: dying animals to look like other wild animals. As if a chow chow isn't adorable enough, these "panda's" are really chow chow's dyed to look like panda's. As recent as 10 years ago you could find dogs in restaurants there (trust me, I've seen it!) so I guess this is a step in the right direction of loving and appreciating dogs as pets... Next step we hope is just loving them for the perfectly imperfect creatures they are! Hello There Cuties and xxxo

Kawaii Food Cuties

I'm starting to feel better (hooray) but food is still not sounding good... if only the cuties above were in my fridge! I don't know if I could actually eat these as their smiles and faces are so adorable but I like the idea of happy food. Hmmm, what do you think of as happy food cuties? Nurse Cutie

One of my friends and I are sick for the new year so hoping this vintage nurse cake topper will cheer us up (especially if on a get well cake!). This cutie is dressed in the uniform of a World War I nurse for the Red Cross, and is carrying a tray with medicine to make us healthy! A trend I'm noticing among my friends is cleaning their homes for the start of the new year. This baby Pygmy hippopotamus isn't cleaning up his home at Tokyo's Ueno Zoo but instead is taking a wee bath. Well, if not cleaning the house clean yourself, right? Cutie News Update!!!

Banana Sam (who we wrote about here) has been found and is back at the SF Zoo, being cared for by his zookeepers! The 2-pound cutie was shaking, hungry and cold when police returned him to the zoo Saturday evening, but he was clean and with no obvious trauma. It is uknown when Banana Sam will return to his exhibit with his 17 squirrel monkey friends, but we hope it's soon... Welcome home and Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo
