Rainy Day Wishes

As you know, I adore cute umbrellas, and this one by Lulu Guinness fits the bill. The simpleness of the handwritten sweet message of "Every cloud has a silver lining" and the sophistication of the design def speaks to me. Planning for 2011 Cuties

With 2011 just around the corner, gotta start planning for the year ahead. Each year I buy the same boring planner inserts at Vuitton, but this agenda might set me on a different course. Artsy Cutie

Earlier this month Sanrio invaded Miami's Art Basel 2010 and look who was there… Hello Kitty!!! Original art and installations by Shepard Fairey (piece above) and dozens more brought cute to the world of fine art. And I say it's about time. Now to see if any are on after Xmas clearance yet… xxxo

Cutemaskah Stocking Time

Each holiday season in anticipation of Christmas I watch the first South Park holiday special. The star of this is Mr Hankey, the Christmas poo who appears to all who have a high fiber diet to give them presents. And poo kisses. For Christmas Eve this year I was ready to make Cutie cupcakes but instead was requested to make my super rich mac 'n' cheese. These cutie vintage Napco elves Christmas tree ornaments were made in Japan in the 1960s. Linking arms in celebration of Cutemaskah, these two are adorable with their innocent faces and silly proportioned bodies. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer was one of my favorite shows each year on tv, and as a wee girl I adored my Little Golden books. This one predates me (it's from 1958) and I began singing a certain song (can you guess what Cuties?) when I saw it on Etsy... how Cutemaskah!!! xxxo

I'm Back Cuties!!!

I'm flying back into SFO today and sure wish this place was still there! Circa 1961, the Pancake Palace was (per the text on the back of this postcard):

Cutemaskah Hanukkah Cuties

This is a vintage Israeli poster from the Jewish National Fund that was done in 1960 to commemorate Hanukkah. The two very cutie Eretz Israeli children are together with a menorah, perhaps to light on this last nite of Hanukkah (and the 9th of Cutemaskah). As an fyi, you're going to need some more candles Cuties!!! xxxo

Down the hill from where I used to live in Bernal (an area of SF), these Cuties would come out to say hello each holiday season. They live in the window of a hardware store, and would always make me ponder "Which of the three is the REAL Santa Claus?" (I always suspected cowboy Claus) Even without an answer, they get a big Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

Poodle Planter Cuties

One of my plants has outgrown its home, so I was looking about for a solution... and voila! This poodle and pup is too cute for words, and I esp. adore her collar with blue inset. Add in that it's a Mom and daughter (a soft spot for me) I thinks it's a Hello There Cutie winner for my home!!! xxxo

Every designer I know has, at one time or another, carried a Rhodia notepad. The fab British clothing guru Paul Smith has carried one for years and designed a series of covers for them. Although the iconic orange notepads are sold out, this black one featuring a major cutie reading (along w/the PS stripes) has caught my eye indeed. Hello There Cutie! xxxo

Pure Pret drinks are both good for your body and your face... Good for your bod as they are all natural and yummy. Good for your face cus the critters on the front of the cans are beyond cutie so make you smile. The only bad thing is that they aren't available in the US. In looking around for trends (gotta know 'em) I often get side-lined by things that catch my eye. Then if there's a Cutie angle, watch out!!! Drumming Cuties

Some (including my Daddy) have claimed Buddy Rich was the best jazz drummer of all time. He certainly dumbfounds Animal when he goes head to head with the monster in a drum battle on this classic Muppet Show segment. Two drummers my Daddy liked makes this very Hello There Cutie! xxxo

Flipper Cutie

Who is this cutie? It's a baby dolphin that was found by tourists, showing marks of a fishing net. The marine reserve 'SOS Fauna Marina' is taking care of this little guy and nursing him back to health. Well, Hello (and get well soon) Cutie!!! xxxo

Maps are cool. As are envelopes with pretty liners... put the two together and voila! The artist Beste Miray likes to make the everyday into art, and here's a great example. Our dear Comrade-in-Cutie Doug is off to visit Staten Island for a bit and I looked all over for an appro image of the place. Wrigley Cuties

These Cuties are can be found in the oldest working streetcar in SF and is the original ad from the 1800's! I never thought of the doublemint twins as being sticks of gum with smiling moon faces, legs and adorable hats. Makes me want to not chew one ever again... sorry Cutie gum! xxxo

Recovery Kit Cutie

I adore the brand Knock Knock and their multitude of whimsical (and sassy!) products. I have a few friends who would def adore this wee tin box! In addition to containing a tongue-in-cheek remedy booklet, affirmation cards, healing bandages, recovery certificate, and metal charm, it has a fabulous silicone bracelet that reads "Burnt Out" on it. Funny and cutie! xxxo

Day of the Dead Cutie

Today is Day of the Dead, and this Cutie take on the art for it is by the Canadian illustrator Christina Patterson. Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) is a gathering to pray for/remember friends and family members who are no longer with us in parades, at shrines or even alone. If there is a celebration in your town, I highly recommend going. xxxo
