Rainy Day Wishes

As you know, I adore cute umbrellas, and this one by Lulu Guinness fits the bill. The simpleness of the handwritten sweet message of "Every cloud has a silver lining" and the sophistication of the design def speaks to me. Add in that the shape is old fashioned, it gets a big "Hello There Cutie" from us! xxxo

Planning for 2011 Cuties

With 2011 just around the corner, gotta start planning for the year ahead. Each year I buy the same boring planner inserts at Vuitton, but this agenda might set me on a different course. Artsy Cutie

Earlier this month Sanrio invaded Miami's Art Basel 2010 and look who was there… Hello Kitty!!! Original art and installations by Shepard Fairey (piece above) and dozens more brought cute to the world of fine art. And I say it's about time. Now to see if any are on after Xmas clearance yet… xxxo

Cutemaskah Stocking Time

Cutemaskah Snow Family

If my family had sent Cutemaskah cards, this would of been perfect for the five of us (replacing the word Christmas with Cutemaskah, of course). I love how the five snowpeople are so happy in their ensembles, and the fabulous retro (mod for the time) typography. Happy Cutemaskah Cuties!!! xxxo

Cutemaskah Hi-dee-ho Cutie

Each holiday season in anticipation of Christmas I watch the first South Park holiday special. The star of this is Mr Hankey, the Christmas poo who appears to all who have a high fiber diet to give them presents. And poo kisses. Cutemaskah Cupcakes

For Christmas Eve this year I was ready to make Cutie cupcakes but instead was requested to make my super rich mac 'n' cheese. (sigh) I was kinda excited to make something as adorable as these guys above (esp. the Santa face and the giant candy one!) but might do these anyway for my friends. Would you like one Cuties? xxxo

A Groovy Cutemaskah Cutie...

"Who is this groovy Cutemaskah Cutie?" you might asking... I don't know much 'cept that she's on a card from the early 60's, is wearing a great outfit, and has a wonderful little bird friend. And a dancing tree for all her Cutemaskah presents. xxxo

Cutemaskah Elves

These cutie vintage Napco elves Christmas tree ornaments were made in Japan in the 1960s. Linking arms in celebration of Cutemaskah, these two are adorable with their innocent faces and silly proportioned bodies. Add in their vibrant outfits, we need to shout out a big "Hello There Cutie" to them! xxxo

The Red Nosed Cutemaskah Cutie...

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer was one of my favorite shows each year on tv, and as a wee girl I adored my Little Golden books. This one predates me (it's from 1958) and I began singing a certain song (can you guess what Cuties?) when I saw it on Etsy... how Cutemaskah!!! xxxo

A Shoe-In for Cutemaskah

Yes Cuties, this is a bit of a mirror as I adore buying myself presents. And who doesn't love a fab pair of shoes for the holidays? This collage is by the UK artist Kris Atomic, who has a wonderful eye in both her illustrations and photography. I'm Back Cuties!!!

I'm flying back into SFO today and sure wish this place was still there! Circa 1961, the Pancake Palace was (per the text on the back of this postcard):
"... located at San Francisco International Airport, in a regal early San Francisco setting. Pancake is King! Fourteen varieties of the finest pancakes in the world."

Cutemaskah Hanukkah Cuties

This is a vintage Israeli poster from the Jewish National Fund that was done in 1960 to commemorate Hanukkah. The two very cutie Eretz Israeli children are together with a menorah, perhaps to light on this last nite of Hanukkah (and the 9th of Cutemaskah). As an fyi, you're going to need some more candles Cuties!!! xxxo

Reader Andy of SF sent us these penguin Cuties just in time for Cutemaskah... aren't they just adorable? I wonder how tiny their little elf friends are. Perhaps they are mice? (yes, I love Cinderella!) Whatever the story, we send out a bit Hello There Cutie love to them!!! xxxo

Bernal Cutemaskah Cuties

Down the hill from where I used to live in Bernal (an area of SF), these Cuties would come out to say hello each holiday season. They live in the window of a hardware store, and would always make me ponder "Which of the three is the REAL Santa Claus?" (I always suspected cowboy Claus) Even without an answer, they get a big Hello There Cutie!!! xxxo

Cutemaskah Kitty

Isn't it nice of Hello Kitty to wish us all a Happy Hanukkah? She does seem a bit confused in her Christmas dress and holiday song book but hey, she's cute so can get away with it. And perhaps, by mixing the two holidays, she's also truly us a Happy Cutemaskah! Thanks Kitty!!! xxxo
