Broom Hilda: Halloween Cutie
Today we celebrate a cute Halloween with one of our favorite wacky witches in the world!Broom-Hilda a cute old witch with green skin, a wart on the end of her nose, and stringy hair. She always dresses in black, but wears a flower on top of her hat. Hilda is said to be Attila the Hun's ex-wife and is always unsuccessfully trying to land a new husband. Originally Hilda smoked cigars and drank like a sailor, but she seems to have mellowed out a bit in her old age.Broom-Hilda is a classic newspaper comic strip created by Russell Myers. It is distributed by the Chicago Tribune Syndicate and debuted on April 19, 1970. You can read the strip every day here.

I love Pocky and you shoulda heard my squeals of dee-light when I found out they made some special for Halloween. Rumour is (as I can't find it in the US), that the pumpkin one isn't de-lish (his smiling pumpkin friend makes up for this) but the ghostly milk one is TDF... and look how cute the happy ghost is. Awwww, Hello There Pocky Cuties!!! xxxo

Graveyard Cuties
We Wish You a Merry Hallowe'en Cutie...
"Merry" and "Hallowe'en" are two words you often don't see together. This cute vintage postcard harkens back to the days when that saying was perhaps more common.

Beware Cuties
Don't Do This At Home, Cuties!
While these homemade Halloween masks are certainly cute, it's not advised to wear a paper bag on your head for several reasons. 1) you won't be able to see where you are going 2) you may not be able to breathe properly while wearing a bag on your head 3) you might scare other cuties.
So please, choose your Halloween head wear carefully.

Cutie Cereals
Altho Quisp was my fave childhood cereal, I always wished my Mom would buy me either of the two above, along with their good friend Count Chocula. These cereals made every morning Halloween for my lucky friends... looking at the boxes now, I think I was just attracted to their cute faces. Hello There Cuties! xxxo
Cute Witch Cycle
This cute plastic plaything features a witch, a pumpkin and a motorcycle! I guess sometimes a broom isn't fast enough!

Devilishly Cutie
In the 1970s, 4" statues like these were all the rage and this saucy devil seemed Halloween appropriate. The front reads "Good Little Girls May go to Heaven... But Bad Little Girls Go Everywhere." In the land of Hello There Cutie, bad girls eat chocolate before supper so wee hee, we get to travel!!! xxxo
Cute & Strange
A cute vintage plastic Halloween knick-knack from the mid-20th century...this pumpkin plays the accordion. Sure, why not?

Policing Cute
Time for a break from Halloween for some arresting cuties... Hikaru-kun and Hikari-chan are the mascots of the Niigata Prefectural Police Force in Japan. They even have their own merchandise here. With their bright yellow gloves, adorable hats and sweet faces, we just gotta say "Moshi Moshi Cuties!" xxxo

Boo-Nilla Cutie Shake
Time for another Hello There Cutie recipe... this time for Halloween!
For 12 faces, place 1/3 cup (2 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl; microwave on high until melted, 1 to 1 1/2 minutes; stir. Using a small brush, paint chocolate inside glasses (if it hardens too soon, microwave 20 seconds more). Let set a few minutes before adding vanilla milkshake. Prepare glasses up to a day ahead, but don't fill until ready to serve. Voila! Boo-Nilla Cutie shakes... xxxo

Cardboard Cuties Close-Up
Proving that "cute minds think alike" - here's my two favorite Beistle vintage Halloween decorations that I planned to post today not knowing that Sherri also was posting them too! Jinxies! Well, these two I've always referred to as "Country Pumpkin" and "City Pumpkin" and I imagined that these grinning gourds were cousins who saw each other only once a year–on Halloween!
Cardboard Cuties
"Who are these cuties?" you might be wondering... well, these are home decorations from the 60s for the home. I adore the adorable pumpkins and smiling cat, and even the witch looks sweet; oddly, it's the owl that scares this trick or treater! Well, they still get a big "Hello there cutie" for being so swell. xxxo

Cutie Treats
On Halloween, the real surprises were in the bags that neighbors would fill with assorted stuff... would it be generic candy or homemade treats or something super yummy? Even a toy? Well this little cutie in disguise would make me want to see what's in his bag o' treats. Hello there cutie little boy!!! xxxo
Carving Cuties
After you find your Great Pumpkin, you gotta wheel it home and carve it up into a jack 0'lantern. These two cuties give us a step-by-step guide on how to do it right, decades before Martha Stewart came along.

Great Pumpkin = Cutie
One can't have cutie without the classic comic strip Peanuts... According to Linus, on Halloween night, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch he deems the most "sincere." The Great Pumpkin then flies through the air to deliver toys to all the good little children. One can cause the Great Pumpkin to pass him or her by saying "if he comes", as opposed to "when he comes." This means the Great Pumpkin is likely to pass by anyone who doubts his existence... we believe, do you? xxxo
Who's Cute?
Another great, classic Beistle vintage Halloween decoration was this cute owl. Owls are generally not associated with the holiday, but who gives a hoot?

Cute, Silly & Soapy
In the tradition of Crazy Foam, here is Silly Soap–a fun bath time accessory that every child of the 70s wishes they had. This wacky product was basically dad's shaving cream in a taller can with a cute or crazy character on the label. Mister Monster was the most popular of the three Silly Soapers, along with Alphie the Astronaut and Woo-Woo the Whale.

Creepy But Cutie Too
This wicked witch mask may be a bit creepy, but her big toothy smile proves she's only a "trick" with a true cutie hiding somewhere behind the Halloween facade.
Creepy Yet Cutie
There's something haunting about this painting of a little girl and her pet skunk that is both creepy yet cute... From the way she's staring at us to the tight grip around her pet, this image reminds me of a scary movie. But she's so sweet and innocent in her white dress I must be wrong... or am I? xxxo
Thanks for the image Elisabeth!

Pumpkin Cutie
Sophisticated & Cute
One of my favorite vintage Halloween decorations from the fine folks at Beistle Decorations, this feline fellow scares up some fond memories of trick & treats back in my old neighborhood. I loved decorating my family's front bay window each October with these wonderful and cute cut-outs, a tradition which I carry on today in my very own home.
